YES! It's CROCHET! The November Toque is a classic ribbed, wide-brim fold-over beanie that features mirrored short row shaping and a sophisticated knit-like texture. It's gender neutral, so it looks great on both men and women. It's the perfect selfish crochet project and a great gift for loved ones!
Fit + Sizing
The November Toque has an classic fit, with a stretchy, 1x2 knit-like ribbed texture.
Hat can be made in 2 sizes—adult small or adult large—and is designed to fit head of an average adult with head circumference between approximately 20-25". Due to ribbed design, hat is quite stretchy width-wise, so can stretch to fit most heads. For reference, model has a 22" head and is wearing a size small.
As written, you'll need category 4 light worsted weight or category 3 DK weight yarn in the amounts of:
Adult Small | 265yds
Adult Large | 303yds
I used WeCrochet City Tweed (pictured in the color Snowbank), but I also tried Lion Brand Color Theory (pictured in the color Dijon). Both worked well.
Other materials you'll need:
4mm crochet hook
The yarn I used, WeCrochet City Tweed is a 55% merino wool, 25% superfine alpaca, and 20% donegal tweed blend. Although it is labeled as a heavy weight or aran worsted, it's quite thin for its rating. You can easily substitute many worsted, light worsted, and DK weight yarns for this pattern. You can also check out Yarn Sub. I recommend making sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog.
