Introducing the Flora Pullover. This sweater is a beautiful short-sleeve sweater featuring a unique texture and a classic and slightly cropped fit with classic ribbing along the neckline, sleeves, and bottom hem. Samantha from Winnie Jo Fiber Co. was kind enough to gift me some of her hand-dyed 100% superwash merino DK weight yarn for this design.

The Design
This sweater is labeled as an advanced intermediate level sweater. Although the stitches are basic/foundational, due to the stitch pattern, short rows, and ribbing construction. It's very helpful to have made a garment before, and it's important to be familiar with the techniques/skills in this pattern before making it.
The sweater is constructed by making a front and back panel and seaming them together at the shoulders and sides. Then, the neckline ribbing and bottom hem ribbing are added using the perpendicular method. And finally, the sleeves are added to the armholes and topped off with the sleeve ribbing (using the same method as the neckline and bottom hem).
Fit + Sizing
The Flora Pullover has a classic, boxy fit, crew neck, slightly cropped length, and short length sleeves. Sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's standards. However, it is quite easy to adjust the length or width of this sweater (if you require customizations), and add length to the sleeves. Notes for customizing the length and/or width are noted along the way.
It is designed to have a positive ease of 2.5-6". To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately 2.5-6" larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches.

Materials
As written, you'll need:
approximately 1114(1249, 1417, 1635, 1796, 2003, 2265)yds of Winnie Jo Fiber Co. DK weight hand-dyed yarn, or an equivalent yarn.
Other materials you'll need:
4mm and 5mm crochet hook
tapestry needle
scissors
Yarn Substitutions:
If planning to substitute a yarn, many DK and some sport weight yarns should substitute well. I recommend making sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog.
Below I'm highlighting a few specific cotton yarn substitutions, because I truly feel this design would really shine equally in a high quality cotton or cotton/bamboo yarn (I definitely plan on making a cotton version for myself when I get the chance!).
Lion Brand Coboo | This DK cotton bamboo blend is a really drape-y, cool-on-the-skin yarn, that makes a great, really wearable and comfy garment. I think this would make an excellent warm-weather substitute that would create a very slinky and breathable final result.
We Are Knitters The Cotton* | This is a 100% Pima cotton from Peru that is labeled a sport/DK weight. From a cotton standpoint, it's really luxurious and the color selections are gorgeous.
Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend | This one is a fan fave for a reason. It's a 50/50 cotton/polyester blend spun together. It's such a durable yet easy yarn to work with and wear. It's also perfect for any season.
WeCrochet Swish DK | Swish is a 100% fine superwash merino wool that is really soft and comes in a lot of beautiful colors. It would be a nearly identical substitute for the yarn I used.
WeCrochet Andean Treasure | It's no secret this is a fave of mine. I've used it in several of my designs. It's a 100% baby alpaca sport weight yarn that is so luxurious and a dream to work with.
WeCrochet Heatherly | This is a new yarn from WeCrochet that comes in both sport weight and worsted weight. It's an 80/20 acrylic/merino wool blend that is designed to be easy to work with, have great stitch definition (which should highlight the texture of the Flora Pullover nicely), and easy to care for. It comes in a variety of gorgeous pastel and muted colors.
WeCrochet Alpaca Cloud | This is another 100% baby alpaca yarn, but in a DK weight version. Another truly luxurious yarn to work with and wear.
Originally Lovely Pura | This is a 100% superfine merino wool DK weight yarn, and is a new yarn line created by a fellow maker that recently hit the market.
