The Design
The Chroma Cardigan is an oversized, light + airy, cozy, and colorful crochet cardigan. It was inspired by my 2023 exploration of color. I gathered as many colors as I could in an attempt to boldly unify them in one cozy piece. The charcoal gray ribbing frames the colors in while giving this bold sweater a classic finish. Wear this cardigan on a day you're feeling blue, and it's sure to perk you up!
The cardigan is constructed bottom-up by making three panels—a front left, front right, and back panel, then seaming them together at the shoulders and sides. Then, the bottom hem and front ribbing are added using the perpendicular method. And finally, the sleeves are added to the armholes and topped off with the sleeve ribbing (using the same method as the neckline and bottom hem).
Fit + Sizing
The Chroma Cardigan has an oversized fit, with a shaped front opening, slightly tapered sleeves, and a 1x1 knit-like ribbing along the bottom, front, and cuffs. Sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's standards.
It is designed to have a positive ease of 11.5-14". To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately 11.5-14" larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches.

Yarn Substitutions
The yarn I used, WeCrochet Wonderfluff is a 70% baby alpaca, 7" merino wool, and 23% nylon blend. The wool and alpaca fibers are blown into a mesh nylon tube, making this yarn super fluffy, soft, and lightweight. For best results, I would recommend using the same yarn or another blown-style yarn in its place. You can also check out Yarn Sub. I recommend making sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog.
