The Design
This sweater is cautiously labeled as an advanced level sweater due to the somewhat complex colorwork. However, if you're an ambitious beginner, you could very well make a non-plaid version of this sweater and when you're ready, tackle another plaid version later on (kinda a 2-patterns-in-one sorta deal...wink!). It is worked from the bottom up, creating two square panels (a front and back), seaming them together, attaching sleeves, and finally, adding ribbed edging perpendicular to the neckline and bottom hem.
Fit + Sizing
The Posh Plaid Pullover has a roomy, boxy, unisex fit. Even though sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's female standards, males who fit within the sizing chart below could benefit from this design.
It is designed to have a positive ease of 5-8". To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately 5-8" larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches.

1547(1711, 1879, 2015, 2192, 2402, 2546) total yds
— OR —
1282(1433, 1555, 1669, 1806, 1973, 2102) yds or 10(11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) skeins of Wool of the Andes Sport in Color A (the main color)
127(135, 143, 149, 163, 197, 203) yds or 1(1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skeins of Wool of the Andes Sport in Color B (accent color)
99(99, 121, 132, 139, 139, 142) yds or 1(1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2) skeins of Wool of the Andes Sport in Color C (accent color)
70(76, 92, 97, 115, 124, 130) yds or 1(1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1) skeins of Wool of the Andes Sport in Color D (accent color)
Other materials you'll need:
a 3.5mm and 3.75mm crochet hook
tapestry needle
scissors
Yarn Substitutions:
Wool of the Andes Sport is labeled as a category 2 sport weight yarn. If planning to substitute a yarn, you could easily get away with using a number of DK weight yarns, as well. I highly recommend making sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog.
WeCrochet City Tweed (DK) | This is a beautiful merino wool, alpaca, and donegal tweed blend that is a favorite of mine. It is soft with great drape, holds its shape, and has a beautiful assortment of colors. I have used the worsted variety in my Campsite Cardigan and the DK variety in my Neapolitan Pullover, if you want to see this yarn in action.
WeCrochet Brava (sport) | This is an economy acrylic yarn that is actually quite soft and drape-y (especially after steaming or blocking/washing). It's easy to care for and comes in a lot of colors, including a fair number of dusty shades and earthy colors.
WeCrochet CotLin DK | If you're looking for a lighter, cotton yarn for this project, this would be a great choice. It is a tanguis cotton and linen blend that is quite durable, is easy care, and softens well with wash and wear. It also comes in lots of beautiful colors.
Lion Brand Coboo DK | This cotton bamboo blend is a really drape-y, cool-on-the-skin yarn, that would make a great warmer weather or transitional season sweater — especially for a solid color version.
Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton | This is a 100% cotton yarn that has a really generous yardage per cake. It is also really soft and machine washable.
