Stitch Tutorial | Single Crochet

Learn how to crochet the single crochet stitch. The single crochet stitch is a beginner foundational and basic stitch perfect for creating anything you'd like with a simple texture — lovely for sweaters, blankets, hats, dishcloths, pillows, amigurumi, and scarves, etc.

Some quick notes...
Stitch Level | beginner
Pattern abbreviation | sc in standard US crochet terms
Stitch height | taller than a slip stitch (sl st), but shorter than a half double crochet (hdc)
Foundation | a slip knot followed by a series of foundation chains, or a series of chainless foundation single crochet stitches (abbreviated fsc) of any number (unless the pattern you are following indicates a specific number)
Turning chain | 1; the turning chain is the number of chains you make when starting a new row; the turning ch 1 will not count as a stitch unless noted in the pattern you're following
