The Design—Crochet Vest Pattern
Made to be layered over your favorite shirts, dresses, and tees, this crochet vest adds warmth without bulk, and offers a relaxed yet elevated look for everyday wear—whether you’re heading to the office, coffee shop, church, or a casual get-together. It features clean ribbed lines, decorative plant-inspired stitches, and adjustable side-ties.
The vest is constructed side-to-side by making two panels—a front and back panel, then seaming them together at the shoulders. Then, the collar, side edging, and side-ties are added to finish.

Fit + Sizing
The Eucalyptus Slipover has a cropped fit. It features a straight body, ribbed texture, and plant-inspired decorative stitches. Bottom hem is worked into the panels while the collar is applied perpendicular to the neck opening. Sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's standards as close as possible, but because of the stitch and row repeats, is a bit off the standards.
It is designed to have a positive ease of -3 through 0" (-7.5 through 0 cm). To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately -3 through 0" (-7.5 through 0 cm) larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches. I have a 34" bust and am wearing a size small for -2" of ease.
Size | Bust Circum. | Garment Circum. |
XS | 28-30" | 27.5" |
S | 32-34" | 32" |
M | 36-38" | 36.5" |
L | 40-42" | 39" |
XL | 44-46" | 43.5" |
2XL | 48-50" | 48" |
3XL | 52-54" | 52.5" |

Yarn
The yarn I used is WeCrochet Capra DK with a wpi of 11 and consisting of 85% merino wool and 15% cashmere. When/if substituting yarn, make sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog. You can also use yarnsub.com to help you find substitutions.
