Crochet Pattern | Chroma Color Infinity Scarf

girl modeling a handmade chunky colorful granny ripple stripe infinity scarf or cowl with a ribbed edging

Introducing the Chroma Color Infinity Scarf. The Chroma Color Infinity Scarf is a versatile, staple winter wardrobe accessory. It can be worked in stripes for a striking pop of 2 or more colors, or worked in one solid color for a minimalistic look to let the simple textures shine. It features a combination of basic stitches worked to create a ripple or wave design, which makes this scarf fun to make, and a ribbed edging that elevates the scarf to a more luxurious look and feel.

Fit + Sizing

This scarf is one size. It's approximately 10" wide (without the ribbed edging) or 12-13" wide (with the ribbed edging) and has a 60" circumference.

As written, you'll need pproximately 675-700yds of We Are Knitters The Petite Wool, or an equivalent yarn.

  • Total yardage for a solid color version (with edge ribbing) | 675yds

  • Total yardage for a solid color version (without edge ribbing) | 525 yds

  • Yardage for striped version (with edge ribbing) | 250yds of Color A, and 90yds each of Color B, C, D, E, and F

  • Yardage for striped version (without edge ribbing) | 90yds each of Color A, B, C, D, E, and F

Other materials you'll need:

  • 5.5mm and 6mm crochet hook

  • tapestry needle

  • scissors

Yarn Substitutions:

The Petite Wool is a 100% roving wool. If substituting, I highly recommend making sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog. For more substitutions, check out Yarn Sub.

  • WeCrochet Muse | This is a 100% superwash merino wool that is meticulously hand dyed by artisans. It its firmly twisted in a single strand, so it discourages splitting, pilling, and breakage.

  • We Are Knitters The Meriwool | This is a 100% superwash merino wool similar to The Petite Wool.*

  • WeCrochet Swish Bulky | This is a non-roving or single ply yarn, but might be worth a try. It is a 100% fine superwash merino wool that is really soft and would have great stitch definition. It is labeled as a bulky; however, WeCrochet's bulky yarns tend to be a little on the lighter side. With it's springy-ness, though, I think it's a great non-roving or single ply contender.
