The Design—Crochet Sweater Pattern
The most basic piece in the Heritage Collection, the Basal Pullover crochet sweater features clean lines, subtle texture, and a relaxed + boxy fit. The fold-over collar and ultra wide ribbed cuffs and bottom hem give this classic sweater a modern finish.
The cardigan is constructed bottom-up by making two panels—a front and back panel, then seaming them together at the shoulders and sides. Then, adding the ribbing and sleeves.

Fit + Sizing
The Basal Pullover has a comfortable oversize and slightly cropped fit. It features a straight body, long tapered sleeves shaped by decreases, a mock-rib texture, extra wide cuff and bottom hem ribbing, and fold-over collar. Bottom hem and cuffs are worked perpendicular to the bottom (applied ribbing). Sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's standards.
It is designed to have a positive ease of 7-9" (18-23 cm). To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately 7-9" (18-23 cm) larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches. I have a 34" bust and am wearing a size small for 7" of ease.
Size | Bust Circum. | Garment Circum. |

S | 32-34" | 39" |

XL | 44-46" | 51" |

Yarn
The yarn I used is WeCrochet Swish Worsted with a wpi of 9 and consisting of 100% fine superwash merino wool. When/if substituting yarn, make sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog. You can also use yarnsub.com to help you find substitutions.
